Conference AbstractThe Fourteenth GNYCACECSD Conference on Clinical Education will provide participants with practical strategies that will enhance their role as supervisors and improve the student/supervisor relationship. Participants will obtain information to facilitate a cognitive re-framing of the complex world of supervision, as well as to inspire renewed passion for mentoring speech-language pathology and audiology students. The presenters will guide participants in crafting personal tools to improve student and supervisor performance through identification and reflection of individual teaching styles. Video and small group interactions are designed to instill passion for supervision and to provide a new way of measuring success as supervisors.
Conference ObjectivesBy conference end, participants will be able to: 1. Describe the importance of supervision and the responsibilities inherent in the supervisor/supervisee relationship 2. Describe their personal learning style and personality type and how these variables relate to their supervision style 3. Complete ASHA’s self-reflection form and generate facility specific forms to facilitate a successful supervisor/supervisee relationship 4. Identify three practical strategies for improving the supervisee/supervisor relationship and how these strategies relate to their employment setting |
